How to Design Your Own Custom Poker Chips
Designing custom poker chips takes a few minutes — not days. Whether you're adding a company logo for a corporate event, a photo for a wedding favor, or custom text for a home poker game, the process is the same: pick a chip, upload your artwork, and order. Here's a step-by-step walkthrough of how it works, plus tips on choosing the right chip style and print method for your project.
Choose Your Chip Style
Before you start designing, pick the chip that fits your project. Each style has a different look, feel, print method, and price point. Our 8-stripe direct print chips are the most popular — they support full-color artwork on both sides with a 1.25" print area. For a more affordable option, hot stamp poker chips deliver a classic casino look with a one-color foil imprint.
Not sure which chip is right? Our guide to the 4 types of poker chips breaks down the differences between every style, weight, and print method. You can also compare print methods to understand how hot stamp, inlay, and direct print work.
Upload Your Artwork and Customize
Once you've selected a chip, click the "Design My Poker Chips" button on the product page. This opens our free online design tool where you can build your chip in real time. Upload your logo, photo, or artwork — or simply type text and choose from available fonts, colors, and layouts.
The design tool shows a live preview of your chip as you make changes, so you know exactly what the finished product will look like. You can customize both the front and back with different designs at no extra charge on full-color chips. If you'd rather have our team handle the design, just click "Free Virtual Proof" and send us your artwork — we'll create a professional layout for you.
Accepted File Types
Best quality: TIF, EPS, PDF (vector formats produce the sharpest results)
Also accepted: JPG, GIF, PNG (use high resolution — 300 DPI or higher recommended)
Don't worry if your file isn't perfect. Our design team will optimize your artwork for the best print quality at no charge.
Review Your Proof and Order
After you submit your design, our team reviews your artwork to make sure everything is centered, properly sized, and will print well. You'll receive a free virtual proof — a realistic mockup of your finished chips — within 24 hours. If anything needs adjustment, we'll send recommendations and work with you until it's right.
Once you approve the proof, your chips move into production. Standard turnaround is 5 business days. Rush production is available if you need chips in as little as 1 business day. Every order includes free setup — there are no hidden fees, plate charges, or artwork costs.
Design Tips for the Best Results
Tips From Our Design Team
Keep it simple. Poker chips have a small print area (1.25" on 8-stripe chips). Bold logos, clean text, and high-contrast colors look best. Avoid fine details that won't be visible at chip size.
Use high-resolution artwork. The higher the resolution, the sharper your print. Vector files (EPS, PDF) are ideal. If using a JPG or PNG, aim for 300 DPI or higher.
Think about both sides. Full-color chips let you put different designs on front and back at no extra cost. A logo on the front and contact info or event details on the back is a popular approach for businesses.
Match your colors to your chip. The chip edge color shows around your design. Choose an edge color that complements your artwork — or use it as part of the design by incorporating it into your color scheme.
Don't have a logo? No problem. Browse our poker chip design templates for ready-made layouts. Pick a template, add your text, and you're done — no design skills needed.
